Gabon Diaspora Group Alleges Closure of Voting Centers
update
Gabonese are voting Saturday in presidential and parliamentary elections where incumbent President Ali Bongo Ondimba, whose family has ruled the country for 56 years, is running for re-election. Ondimba has changed the constitution several times to guarantee the family’s continued rule. Laurence Ndong, president of the Gabonese group “Stand Up Free People”, tells VOA’s James Butty, many in the Gabonese diaspora may not be able to vote because the government has canceled many voting places.
