Clashes in Senegal After Opposition Leader Detained
Sporadic protests broke out in Senegal's capital Dakar on Monday as one of the key opposition figures, Ousmane Sonko, was remanded in custody on charges of plotting an insurrection, criminal conspiracy and other offenses. Sonko's supporters have been angered by the prospect that his conviction could bar him from standing in next year's presidential election.
