Hodan Hassan: From Refugee to US State Representative

In 1991, Hodan Hassan fled war in her home country, Somalia, and sought refuge in neighboring Kenya’s Dadaab refugee camp. Despite uncertainty at the time and having to move around from one refugee camp to another, Hassan was finally resettled in the United States. Today, she is a state representative for the U.S. state of Minnesota, making decisions that chart the future of her state. VOA Somali sat down with Hassan to hear her story.
