China Expands Influence in International Public Security Operations

China conducts public security and law enforcement operations internationally with greater frequency than its army. Around 40 African nations have agreements with Chinese public security agencies. In Addition, China has also negotiated extradition treaties with 13 African countries, a significant increase from none in 2018. For more insight, VOA's Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Paul Nantulya, a research associate at the Africa Center for Strategic Studies.
