- Esther Ewart
Somalia’s al-Shabab attacked a military base on the outskirts of Masagawa located in the central part of the country, killing at least 17 people. The attack comes just days after the militant group attacked a base housing Ugandan forces from an African Union peacekeeping mission in Bulamarer, 130 kilometers southwest of the capital, Mogadishu. For more, VOA's Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Ruth Namatovu, security and conflict analyst at John Hopkins University.
