The Sudanese army and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces have agreed to extend their week-old cease-fire for five more days, in a deal brokered by Saudi Arabia and the United States. Nigeria’s military in May rescued three school girls captured by Boko Haram more than nine years ago in the north of the country. And, the International Monetary Fund says it must work with Egypt to agree a date for an initial review of the reforms pledged under a $3 billion financial package awarded by the United Nations financial agency in December.
