A United Nations special rapporteur has voiced concern about the deteriorating political situation in Zimbabwe, where human rights defenders and opposition activists are facing imprisonment. In Senegal, police fired tear gas at a volatile protest near the home of main opposition leader Ousmane Sonko, who is currently awaiting the verdict of a rape trial.
