UNHCR: Sexual Violence Against Children Surges In DRC's Kivu Province

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has called for urgent scale-up of interventions and funding to respond to rising sexual violence against children and women in the DRC’s North Kivu Province. Grant Leaity, UNICEF’s country representative, tells VOA’s James Butty, gender-based violence in North Kivu increased by 37 percent in the first three months of 2023.
