Kenyan opposition leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Sunday suspended anti-government protests that were scheduled for this week in response to calls by President William Ruto, who said the violent demonstrations killed three people and injured over 400, including at least 60 security officers. Odinga said he saw Ruto’s statement as an olive branch and a “positive development,” but added that if government presented “no meaningful engagement” protests would restart in a week.
