Nigeria Battles Deadly Bacterial Disease Diphtheria
The World Health Organization (WHO) is warning against the spread of the deadly bacterial disease diphtheria that typically attacks the mucous membranes of the nose and throat. The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed around 216 cases and about 40 deaths from Diphetheria in the country, including children. Dr. Abdullahi Isa, an epidemiologist in Kano State, explains.
