South Sudanese Hopeful for Peace Following Pope's Departure

Many South Sudanese are hopeful after the recent visit by Pope Francis despite ongoing instability in the country due to the stalled implementation of a peace agreement. Francis, who was joined by England’s archbishop of Canterbury and the moderator of the Church of Scotland, encouraged peace and reconciliation during his two-day ecumenical pilgrimage to South Sudan. Africa 54 host Esther Githui-Ewart spoke with Jok Madut Jok, Sudd Institute founding member and Syracuse University professor, about the future of Africa's youngest nation.
