US Marks 2nd Anniversary of Insurrection, House Fails to Choose Speaker
Lawmakers of the U.S. House of Representatives failed for a fourth day Friday to elect a speaker as a group of 20 conservatives continued to block Republican leader Kevin McCarthy’s bid for the post Friday is also the second anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol when an angry mob, supporters of former President Donald Trump, sought to block the certification of the 2020 presidential election results.
