MCC Adds Four African Countries to Grant List
The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) has announced a group of newly eligible countries for multimillion-dollar grants in 2023 including Gambia, Togo, Senegal and Mauritania. The MCC is active in 14 countries in Africa with compact and threshold programs worth roughly $3 billion and another $2.5 billion in the pipeline. The announcement was made at the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit held earlier this month in Washington. VOA's Peter Clottey spoke with MCC Deputy Chief Executive Officer Mahmoud Bah about the grants.
