Host Carol Castiel talks with H.E. Stavros Lambrinidis, the EU Ambassador to the United States, about the bloc’s determination to thwart Russian aggression in Ukraine and Moscow’s attempts to upend the post-World War II liberal international order. Lambrinidis explains the existential threat that Russia's unlawful invasion of Ukraine poses to world peace, stability, and democracy. He tells VOA that despite the sacrifices, the 27-member European Union will remain steadfast in imposing sanctions on Moscow, in supporting Ukraine militarily and via humanitarian aid, and in reducing the bloc’s reliance on Russian oil and gas. He says the EU is warning China against forming a strategic alliance with Russia.
