The United States hosted the 9th Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles amid controversy over who was not invited (Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela) and who boycotted the event attend out of protest. Nonetheless, Eric Farnsworth, Vice President of the Americas Society and Council of the Americas, and Cynthia Arnson, former director, now distinguished fellow of the Latin American Program at Wilson Center tell host Carol Castiel that despite low expectations for the Summit, the Biden administration was right to underscore democracy and propose concrete remedies for migration, health infrastructure and economic development.
