Report: Nearly 5 Trillion Cigarettes Consumed Globally Each Year
Nearly 5 trillion cigarettes are consumed each year around the world, according to a new report. The Seventh Edition of the Tobacco Atlas, released by Vital Strategies and Tobacconomics at the University of Illinois at Chicago, says in 2019 more than 8.67 million people worldwide died due to tobacco. Africa 54 health correspondent Linord Moudou spoke to Jeffrey Drope, an author and co-editor of the report.
