The Trump administration wants to add a citizenship question to the 2020 Census allegedly to help implement the 1965 Voting Rights Act. However, new evidence has surfaced that reveals the actual reason may have been to favor Republican leaning districts and White non-Hispanic voters. There is much at stake in the decennial survey including the allocation of hundreds of billions of federal funds and the distribution of political power.
