Africa News Tonight: Harris takes mantle in US election, US diplomat urges stronger ties with Africa, UN helps East Africa to contain mpox
Just a month after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek reelection, Kamala Harris accepted the nomination to be the Democratic Party’s candidate in the U.S. presidential election. U.S. diplomat and Africa foreign policy advisor Susan Rice said the United States must continue to strengthen its ties with African nations during the next administration. The United Nations says it is working with governments and health officials in East Africa to contain the outbreak of mpox on the continent.
