U.S. President Joe Biden took a swipe at his critics who have repeatedly questioned his age and fitness as he again contends for the White House in the Nov. 5 elections.
The 81-year-old Democrat told Congress Thursday at his third State of the Union Address that his ‘’lifetime has taught me to embrace freedom and democracy. A future based on core values that defined America – honesty, decency, dignity, equality and to respect everyone.’’
He added ‘’other people my age see it differently,’’ an apparent reference to former president Donald Trump. The 77-year-old and some members of the Republican Party are among those who have questioned Biden’s fitness for the nation’s top job.
‘’Whether young or old, I have always known what endures,’’ Biden said.
‘’The very idea of America, that we are all created equal and deserve to be treated equally throughout our lives. We’ve never fully lived up to that idea, but we’ve never walked away from it either. And I won’t walk away from it now.’’
