On Saturday, the ruling party Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) endorsed incumbent President Paul Kagame to run for a fourth term. Kagame has been president since 2000. Meanwhile, opposition leader Victoire Ingabir was barred by the court from running in the elections. VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Edward Rwema, VOA Central Africa Service reporter and Rwandan native about the expectations of voters as campaign plans get underway as well as the progress Rwanda has made to reconcile various ethnic communities following the 1994 genocide among other issues.
