Zimbabwe’s Opposition Criticizes Signing of ‘Patriotic Law'

In Zimbabwe, an official of the main opposition Citizens Coalition for Change, CCC, led by Nelson Chamisa says a new law signed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa is draconian and violates the country’s constitution. The Criminal Law Codification Reform Amendment Bill, also known as “Patriotic Bill,” punishes citizens or permanent residents who campaign for sanctions or trade boycotts against Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, Chamisa promised Sunday at a campaign rally that if he’s elected in the August 23 election, he would revive Zimbabwe’s crumbling health system.
