Zambia’s Information Minister says the country’s foreign minister – Stanley Kakubo – resigned over a private business transaction that went sour, nothing to do with his official government duties. The Lusaka Times quotes Kakubo as saying he resigned to avoid distracting the government from addressing societal challenges. Information Minister Cornelius Mweetwa tells VOA’s James Butty that Kakubo was involved in a private mining deal with a Chinese firm but not in his capacity as a government minister.
