Zambia Opens AFCON with Draw, Looks to Reclaim 2012 Glory

Zambia’s national football team, popularly known by their nickname “Chipolopolo,” on Wednesday kicked-off their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a 1-1 draw to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Despite drawing in their opening match, Zambian officials and supporters maintain that the team is capable of reliving their glory in 2012 where the southern African nation won the tournament.
