WHO: Tuberculosis on track to become top global killer disease

At least 8.2 million people were newly diagnosed with tuberculosis in 2023. The World Health Organization says this is the highest number ever recorded since it began global TB monitoring in 1995, placing TB as the leading infectious killer disease last year. At the same time, multi-drug-resistant TB remains a public health crisis with treatment success rates standing at 68 percent globally. Maureen Ojiambo reports
