WHO: Growing cases of cervical cancer, deaths occur in low-income countries

More than 85 percent of cervical cancer cases and deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, and the World Health Organization says the disease burdens the most vulnerable groups. As the world marked the fourth anniversary of the launch of the global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem on Sunday, the WHO says the disease is still the fourth most common cancer in women globally.
