Vote Counting Begins in DRC After Presidential Elections

They are counting votes in the Democratic Republic of Congo following Wednesday’s presidential and parliamentary elections. Incumbent President Felix Tshisekedi is seeking a second five-year term. He is being challenged by businessman and former Katanga Province governor Moise Katumbi, Nobel peace laureate Dr. Denis Mukwege, and Martin Fayulu, who claims to have won the last presidential elections. Reporter Al Katanty Sabiti Djaffar in the eastern DRC city of Goma, tells VOA’s James Butty, the vote was marred by delays in some parts of the country.
