Official results from Rwanda’s presidential election showed incumbent President Paul Kagame winning re-election with near-unanimous support. With most of the votes counted, Kagame had won about 99 percent of the vote. Police in Kenya fired tear gas on Tuesday to disperse protestors calling for a “total shutdown” of the country. Protestors continue to keep pressure on President William Ruto, with some calling for his resignation, despite Ruto canceling proposed tax hikes and dismissing most of his Cabinet.
