The United Nations Security Council voted on Friday and adopted a resolution that terminated the mandate of the United Nations Integrated Transitional Assistance Mission in Sudan, UNITAMS, established in 2020 to assist Sudan in its transition to democracy. The vote comes as Sudan is embroiled in a brutal conflict that has claimed ten of thousands of lives and displaced millions, according to the United Nations. VOA's Nabeel Biajo spoke with Dr. Salman Mohamed Salman, a Sudanese political analyst, and chairman of the University of Khartoum Council, who says the move was expected.
