The United Nations Mission in South Sudan, UNMISS, is urging Jonglei State authorities to take action and persuade armed young men, allegedly involved in fighting in Pibor, to return to their villages. In response, a senior state official, the Jonglei State Cabinet Affairs minister, reveals that the state government is actively collaborating with local authorities to deescalate the violence.
