Uganda Approves Injectable HIV Drug Amid Increasing Infections

Uganda has approved the long-lasting injectable HIV drug Cabotegravir, becoming the second African country to do so after Zimbabwe. The PrEP, or pre-exposure prophylaxis, treatment prevents the transmission of the virus. About 1.4 million people are living with HIV in Uganda, according to official data.
