US holds early talks with DR Congo on precious metals

The Democratic Republic of Congo is looking to the United States in its bid to find an ally in the government’s battle against the M23 rebels. GOP strategist Joe Szlavik, who is in Kinshasa, confirms to VOA early talks are ongoing between the Trump administration and the DR-Congo government. He tells VOA’s Carol Van Dam President Trump will soon name US businessman Massad Boulos, father-in-law of Trump's daughter Tiffany, to be U.S. special envoy to the Great Lakes region.
