The First Woman in Eswatini to Change the Social Democratic Ideology

The first woman to form a political party in Eswatini says the time has come for women to stop being in the kitchen and take center stage in the struggle to democratize the kingdom. The new party comes as politicians, civil society, and students have been holding consistent protests to demand direct participation in the democratic process. Although there are political parties in Eswatini, candidates can only run for office as individuals, not as official members of the parties. VOA’s James Butty spoke with Busi Mayisela, founder and president of the Swazis First Democratic Front.
