The East African Crude Oil Pipeline Faces Fresh Hurdles

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (Eacop) is facing fresh hurdles after 28 insurers reportedly declined to insure the project following pressure from climate activists, who argue that the project poses significant pollution and human rights risks. Dickens Kamugisha - Executive Director of the Kampala-based Africa Institute for Energy Governance tells VOA’s Douglas Mpuga that these organizations are trying to make sure that this project does not destroy livelihoods of Ugandans and her critical biodiversity.
