Tanzania traders protest new taxes, collection methods

Traders in Tanzania, particularly in the popular market area of Kariakoo in the capital, Dar es Salaam, have been holding a go-slow strike since June 14. The Tanzania Citizen reports the traders are dissatisfied with numerous taxes and collection methods imposed by the country’s Revenue Authority. The government says removing all taxes could affect the implementation of national development projects.
