Analysis: Sudan's Former Foreign Affairs Minister Sanctioned by US [4:30]

The United States Department of the Treasury has imposed sanctions on Sudan's former foreign affairs minister, Ali Karti. He is accused of contributing to the outbreak of conflict between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in April and undermining efforts to reach a ceasefire. The U.S. Treasury has also imposed new sanctions on two procurement and military supply companies affiliated with the RSF. Nabeel Biajo spoke with Sudanese political analyst and associate professor of economics at Long Island University, Bakry el-Medni, to understand the significance of these sanctions.
