Sudan Armed Forces no-show as US-led peace talks stall

For 16 months, the war between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has caused untold suffering to Sudanese civilians and forced 10 million people to flee their homes, while another 25 million are facing acute hunger. Recent peace talks led by the United States in Geneva are also making little progress, as negotiators are only able to reach the Sudanese Armed Forces virtually. For a an analysis of the effects of the long-term war in Sudan, and whether the peace talks will yield any results, VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Akshaya Kumar, the crisis advocacy director at Human Rights Watch.
