Rights group Global Rights Compliance (GRC) — which has filed a case with the International Criminal Court against seven current and former South Sudanese officials accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity — says there is an urgent need to achieve justice for victims of South Sudan’s 5-year civil war. Kenneth Scott, an international human rights lawyer and former war crimes prosecutor, tells VOA’s John Tanza that South Sudanese leaders are not serious about establishing a hybrid court to try wartime abuses as stipulated in the country’s peace agreement.
