Some South Sudanese have established online forums to circumvent a government ban on gatherings across the country. Shortly after the December 2013 conflict in South Sudan, WhatsApp became one of the social media applications used by South Sudanese to express their opinions without fear of reprisal. Tong Deng Anei, the moderator of a WhatsApp group called "Sunrise," is bringing together more than 500 South Sudanese both in the diaspora and back home. He tells VOA's John Tanza the purpose of the forum is to provide South Sudanese with an opportunity to discuss among themselves.
