Mediation to address Sudan’s over one-month-long conflict is still in its early stages according to Suliman Baldo, director of the think tank Sudan Transparency and Policy Tracker. The warring parties of the Sudan Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces agreed last night to extend a seven-day U.S.-Saudi brokered cease-fire for another five days. Baldo tells VOA’s Nabeel Biajo, while the cease-fire has helped slow down the raging conflict and destruction of the capital Khartoum and other parts of the country, it has been marred by serious violations of international and humanitarian law.
