The Norwegian Refugee Council, NRC, reports that around 300,000 civilians have been displaced in Al Jazeera state since clashes erupted between the paramilitary, Rapid Support Forces, and the Sudan Armed Forces on Friday. Wad Medani, the capital of Jazeera state, formerly considered a secure area and refuge for those escaping violence in Khartoum, has witnessed the complete withdrawal of aid agencies and a mass exodus of civilians seeking safety in neighboring states. Mathilde Vu, advocacy manager at NRC, tells VOA's Nabeel Biajo that Sudan's warring factions must safeguard civilians, allowing them to flee without harm.
