South Sudan seeks to explain vote delay

The government of South Sudan will brief diplomatic missions and United Nations agencies on Tuesday about its decision to extend the country’s transitional period by two years. The government said the extension will enable it to implement the remaining critical protocols of the peace agreement. The extension also postpones the national elections scheduled for December 2024.
