The African National Congress (ANC) says it is concerned about what it calls outlandish and outrageous demands for specific cabinet positions in the media. President Cyril Ramaphosa is working to form a government of national unity from among the 10 political parties that have signed the Statement of Intent to be part of the government. The South Africa Mail & Guardian reported Tuesday that the Democratic Alliance (DA) party says wants more than twice the number of cabinet positions it is being offered. The publication quotes the DA’s Helen Zille, who says that it is fair for the DA to be represented across all cabinet clusters. ANC national spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri says negotiating through the media is an act of bad faith.
