Violence against women and children continues to be one of the most serious and deadliest crises facing South Africa. The country’s current crime statistics paint a somber picture of women under siege. It’s a scourge that Police Minister Bheki Cele describes as shameful and one that must be confronted head-on by government, law enforcement and society. But for many women in South Africa help is often too little and too late. Thuso Khumalo reports from Johannesburg.
