Sierra Leone’s Bio Re-Elected

Sierra Leone’s Electoral Commission announced Tuesday incumbent President Julius Maada Bio has been re-elected with 56.17% of the vote in the national election. Rival Samura Kamara of the opposing All Peoples’ Congress party received 41.16% of the vote. Days earlier, Kamara declared the opposition would not accept the they they called “fake and cooked” results. VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Murtala Mohamed Kamara, a journalist with EyeWitnessNews Sierra Leone, who was present as the presidential winner was announced in Freetown.
