Ukrainian officials Monday said eight regions across the eastern European nation, including its capital city Kyiv, were struck by Russian missiles.

Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmygal, Monday said 11 important facilities were damaged across eight regions, including in the capital city of Kyiv, following a strike by Russian missiles.

“As of 11 a.m., 11 important infrastructure facilities in eight regions and the city of Kyiv were damaged,” wrote Shmygal on the Telegram messaging app, adding, “some areas are now cut off.”

“It is necessary to be prepared for temporary interruptions of light, water supply and communication,” said Shmygal.

Monday’s missile strikes against Ukraine were followed by calls for an urgent Group of Seven meeting by Kyiv’s western partners following an agreement between President Volodymyr Zelenskiyy and Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Ukraine’s president said his talks with Scholz focused on increasing pressure on Russia and how best Ukraine’s western partners can aid in restoring the damaged infrastructure.

“My speech is scheduled, in which I’ll tell about the terrorist attacks by RF (Russian Federation),” said Zelenskiyy on Twitter, adding, “We also discussed the issue of increasing pressure on RF (Russian Federation) and aid in restoring damaged infrastructure.”

Zelenskiyy says he also spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron about strengthening Kyiv’s air defense and reiterated calls for pressure on Russia.
