Sudan's seven-month-long conflict has escalated in the Darfur region in recent weeks, with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces asserting control over most major towns in West, Central, South, and East Darfur states. The troika countries of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Norway, along with human rights organizations, have denounced recent violence against civilians and communities in Darfur.
