Post-election protest rocks Mozambique, 18 killed

Mozambican police cracked down on opposition supporters protesting in the capital Maputo on Thursday in the biggest demonstration yet against last month's disputed election. The vote extended the ruling party Frelimo's five decades in power but opposition parties, European Union observers and other groups have alleged there were significant problems. The runner-up in the polls, Venancio Mondlane, rallied his supporters to protest regularly since the October 9th vote. Human rights groups say at least 18 people have been killed in the police crackdown on protests. Reporter Charles Mangwiro in Maputo spoke with VOA’s Kate Pound Dawson about Thursday’s protest
