Pope Francis has called on Sudan’s warring parties to lay down their weapons and give dialogue a chance to end the suffering of civilians. This, as representatives of army commander General Abdel Fattah a-Burhan and Rapid Support Forces Leader General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo signed a short-term ceasefire agreement over the weekend in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Mohammed al-Ta’ishi, former member of the Sudan Transitional Sovereignty Council, said he refused to flee the fighting to save the country from collapsing. He tells VOA’s James Butty, he’s not sure if the warring parties can uphold the ceasefire agreement.
