The extent of the tragedy in Libya is still coming into focus, as the death toll has reached more than five-thousand -- and that number is expected to rise further in the eastern city of Derna, where flooding has caused massive devastation. In Morocco, rescue workers are feverishly trying to reach remote mountain areas that are buried under dust and rubble from Friday’s earthquake. VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke about the dual tragedies in the North African countries with William Lawrence, a professor of political science and international affairs at American University’s School of International Service and a former senior diplomat at the US embassies in Libya and Morocco.
