Newspaper editor arrested

The chairperson of the Union of Journalist in South Sudan says the editor of Dawn Newspaper was picked up on Thursday by men suspected to be officers from the National Security Service. Patrick Oyet tells VOA’s John Tanza that Emmanuel Monychol was picked up at his office and taken to an unknown location. One employee of the Dawn Newspaper says Monychol was picked up after a lengthy meeting with men believed to be members of the National Security Service. David Kumuri, the spokesperson of the National Security Services (NISS) promised to call back after saying he was unable to respond immediately to VOA's request for comment.
